Arvin P. Carandang, EMT-B, has been in the volunteer service for almost 20 years as First Aid/BLS and DRRM Instructor for the Philippine Red Cross San Pablo City Chapter. He is also a member of the ICS National Incident Management Team of the Office of the Civil Defense and a CADRE (ICS Instructor) for the Office of the Civil Defense Region 4A. A founding member of Ugnayan ng Mamumundok ng Banahaw (Bantay Banahaw Operations) and Seach and Rescue operator/instructor and a member/project leader of Climate Reality Project Philippines focusing on Climate Change advocacy. Currently, he is also the Program Coordinator for St. Martin de Porres Streetchildren’s Home (an orphanage based in San Pablo City, Laguna) and a free-lance media practitioner and communication specialist and involved in community development works and social and environmental advocacies.

NINO LOPEZ is the Emergency Preparedness & Disaster Response Unit (EPDRU) Logistics Section Chief of Energy Development Corporation and a board member of Wilderness Search and Rescue (WiSAR) Philippines.  He has studied and practiced survival methods in Alaska and other austere environments around world for over 15 years. Today, he resides in metro Manila with his beautiful and patient wife. They have two little off springs and two unruly fur balls which can be considered weapons of mass destruction.

Weller P. Fernandez, Filipino and permanently residing at Block 11 Lot 16 P-3 Deano st. Upper Bicutan Taguig City Metro Manila Philippines. A volunteer member of three different rescue groups namely, WISAR Philippines, 505th Search and Rescue Group of Philippine Air Force and Philex Foundation Emergency Response Team of Philex Mining Corp. My rescue training started way back in 1994 with Nature Badge Mountain Search and Rescue, one of the leading mountaineering group that time. I also joined the military type training conducted by PAF 505th Search And Rescue group in 1998 and with WISAR Philippines under Doctor Ted Esguerra in 2013 Batch 1. Been in numerous rescue operations since then, locating individual(s) who are lost in mountain areas, search and retrieval of calamity victims and doing other humanitarian activities. I am also active in training individual(s) or group(s) and help them to become effective rescuer soon. I Am currently serving as Sgt at Arms in WISAR Phils, Team Leader in Philex ERT and an auxiliary member in PAF 505th SAR Group.

Marcelino B. Mendoza “Doc Cecil”

“Doc Cecil” is an avid mountaineer that started during his college days. Graduated and practiced as a veterinarian for 7 years but has now shifted to IT as a project manager. Because of his love for the outdoors, he has put up the Spring of Life Adventure Campsite (SLAC) where he facilitates outdoor (camping, ropes obstacle course, technical tree climbing, rock climbing, rappelling, orienteering, mountaineering) and adventure-based team building activities. He has been tapped by Wilderness Search and Rescue Philippines (WISAR), Team Rescue 8 (TR8), Climbing for Christ, and Christian Camping International Philippines (CCI Phil) to conduct training on Technical Rope Rescue, Belaying Certification, Basic Ropemanship, Basic Mountaineering, Wilderness Navigation, Survival, Adventure Programming, and Adventure Risk Management. He finished a Wilderness EMT course and has served regularly as volunteer rescue medic for trail and road ultra-marathons like Clark-Miyamit Falls Ultra (CM50), Miyamit Falls Marathon (MF42), Arayat Mountain Race, Cardimax Clark Ultra Marathon, and Rizal Mountain Run.

Joel Panelo aka “Jopan” is one of the Senior Instructor of the Phil. Red Cross Cavite under Disaster Management (DM/143 Instructor)& Safety (First Aid, BLS, Accident Prevention, Swimming, and Water Safety Instructor) Services, member of the Class 26 of the Phil. Air Force 505th Search and Rescue Group, volunteer rescuer (earthquake, landslide & flood) of the Metro Manila Development Authority, Board of Director of the Unified Cavite Mountaineers Incorporated, former Instructor of the Black Eagle Karate Association of the Philippines, Gawad Kalinga Worker, a Safety Officer and Wilderness Search and Rescue Instructor (Batch 2). He lives in Imus Cavite with her beautiful wife and 3 children whom are all trained rescuers. They are the first family in Cavite (or perhaps in the country) that is trained in High Angle, Urban, Wilderness and Water Search & Rescue. Angelina “Angel” Pereira-Panelo is one of the Senior Instructor of the Phil. DES ALIMBUYUGUEN is a member and an Instructor of LNT in Wilderness Search and Rescue (WISAR) Philippines, an outdoor enthusiast, and a banker. Involved in different WISAR operations and participated as stand by medic with Team Rescue 8 (TR8) activities. Trained in Advance Ropemanship Course under Doc Cecil Mendoza. She is also involved in Happy to Live.Glad to Give (HLGG), an organization who climbs and travels the remotest areas in the Philippines, bringing hope for the kids by giving them school supplies. She is an IT Programmer by profession and a volunteer by heart.

Gerard “Doki” Natividad is a Disaster Management Specialist. He is currently working for the Energy Development Corporation’s Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Response Unit (EPDRU) as Operations Section Chief. He is an Emergency Medical Technician and has been a volunteer responder and humanitarian worker for more than ten years, in various civic and rescue organizations. 

Jhelyn A. Relopez, earned her Master’s degree in Business Administration. However, her heart and passion led her in a career on community service and emergency and disaster preparedness and response. During spare time, she devotes her energy into mountaineering, swimming, and dragonboat activities. Professionally, she is a faculty of De La Salle University-Dasmarinas for more than 14 years. Currently, she is a project officer of the Environmental and Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Advocacy Program under Lasallian Community Development Center. She is an Emergency Medical Technician and also an active volunteer instructor of Philippine Red Cross-Cavite Chapter, Wilderness Search & Rescue and Philippine Heart Association. She is also an auxiliary member of Philippine Air Force 505th Search and Rescue Group.

MARIE GLADYS P. FRESNOZA, is a Wilderness Emergency Technician (WEMT). A volunteer member of Sierra Madre Outdoor Club-Land Sea Air Search and Rescue (SMOC-LASSAR) and Vertical Rescue. An active member of Team Rescue 8 Inc (TR8) and Wilderness Search and Rescue (WISAR). Used to work as a First Responder / Project Coordinator for Foreign Assisted Projects in off-grid areas in Mindanao and a Community Development Worker of a Non-Government Organization focusing on Coastal Resource Management.

May U Cajustin , 24 yr old, a Registered Nurse, Emergency Medical Technician, Reservist Officer in the Nurse Corps AFP, and a WISAR graduate. She loves to travel and explore the wilderness, and also a humanitarian worker. She joined various Rescue Volunteer groups and medical missions that helps reaching communities those in need of health services. Ashe also teaches Basic First Aid and Basic Life Support both urban and the wilderness way. Being a member of WISAR Philippines is her forever pride. ERNESTO V. TORALBA, is from Nagcarlan Laguna, presently working as a registered nurse, EMT-B at Laguna PDRRMO in Sta Cruz Laguna. I have learned a range of rescue skills, including BLS-SFA, WASAR and WISAR. I have also undertake ICS courses which helped to shape the way I work and has given a formal structure to many of the skills I was already developing on a practical basis. As a person, I am basically a simple, fun loving person, whom others consider as sincere and friendly.  

NAYN RANOLA, it all Started in getting involved on Disaster Management and Relief Team in ABS-CBN Foundation Volunteers a Volunteer arm of ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. in 1997. As a volunteer, and eager to help, started to get involved in the community of Saving lives and property, a Fire Rescue Volunteer and eventually an EMT-B. And Batch-1 of WISAR Philippines’ Batch Victor-Alpha. Since then all is history in Saving Lives in the Bohol 7.2 mag. Earthquake and Yolanda surge in Tacloban and various Wilderness SAR Ops. Giving back to what have learned from the mentors, And developed the Basic Primitive Tracking Techniques for SAR Ops . for WISAR Phils. Proud to be WISAR “Bawat Isa, Ay Iisa”

MICHAEL ODIONGAN, is a man who love the great outdoors, rope and helping people. He is a member of Sierra MAdre Outdoor Club Land, Sea, Air Search and Rescue (SMOC-LASSAR), Team Lead of the Technical Team of Team Rescue 8 Inc (TR8), Rope Technician of Vertical Rescue and one of the first batch of instructors of Wilderness Search and Rescue (WISAR) to a name a fewof his affiliation. He was one of Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), Technician scholars and a Safety Officer. Aside from his knowledge on ropes and high angle rescue, he is also a Wilderness Emergency Technician (WEMT), who teaches wilderness survival and disaster preparedness. He is currently with the Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Response Unit (EPDRU) of EDC.

SHERWIN ROY RUIZ ALFONSO, is from Sta.CRuz Laguna. Currently working as a responder at the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office Provincial Government of Laguna. I have learned a range of skills including  Water Search and Rescue (WASAR), Wilderness Search and Rescue (WISAR), and High Angle Rope Rescue. I have also undertake Instructor Training Course at Red Cross. I’m a simple Person, easy to approach, jolly, and kind.
